Body Shop Oil

The summer sunshine is just around the corner (if you have booked a holiday abroad). So how about getting that great holiday feeling from the comfort of your own home. Hail! The Body Shop Dry Oil! 

There are so many varieties of this oil, ranging from strawberry, to coco and of course this one coconut. The oil is fast absorbing and smells fantastic. The coconut fragrance isn't overly sweet like so many coconut fragrance, it is rather earthy and natural. 

The oil leaves the skin with a healthy inner glow, and you can use this on your skin, face and hair. 

Like all Body Shop products they are not tested on animals. They retail at £10 each and are available in store and online at The Body Shop Online . 



I have gone through 4 bottles so far and i'm not planning on stopping, this has been great on my eczema prone sensitive skin.

The Gentleman's Hair Edit

I thought it was about time I started making posts on male grooming as well as female, and why not? Men love taking care of themselves, looking smart and feeling good. Here are three products which my partner loves for his hair. 

Male grooming is slowly taking off in the high streets. Although there was plenty of shower gels, soaps and balms we're seeing more grooming products for beards, hair and body. 

Sexy Texture- There is nothing better than that hair look which looks effortless (but has took hours to achieve, we've all been there). This texture style spray is a great way to create volume in the hair for styling and can give you hair that much needed lift on humid days. This also smells nice but not flowery which is good. The entire Tresemme range isn't overly feminine and make fabulous hair products at an affordable price tag. 

Controlled style- The in male hair style (if that's what you follow) is starting to get longer and more styled. This matt paste really gives the hair grip to hold and style even the most unruly hair. This I would say would only work with hair down to ear length as this is designed to give lift from the roots. This Schwarzkopf beach matt paste feel good and is easy to work with, it does need to be used with a comb or brush for a natural finish. It doesn't cake the hair in product and comes in a easy to carry container which is easy to throw into your gym bag or car. 

Hair scent- Everyone knows that great hair smells amazing. But did you know they sell hair spray which is a perfume? This is a unisex product which smells adventurous, musky and sensual. Great for that intimate meal. This ultraviolet hair spray smells amazing and does not react with other styling products. You can buy this online.

Candles from Primark

Here are two of many candles you can buy from Primark. Slowly as the brand has broadened it's product range their home collection has really grown into its own department. From bedding to bath mats, candles and mugs. There is something now for every room. The only thing they are missing is actual furniture. 

I have long been a avid buyer of yankee candles, but sometimes the cost can be a lot for such a small home item. Sometimes I walk away thinking £10+ for a candle is ridiculous. So, I set myself a challenge to find some nice home candles which didn't come with such an unappealing price tag. These candles cost £2 each and come in a glass holder. They last for ages claiming to burn for 30 hours each (handy if you have a power cut). Each candle has a distinct scent which is reminiscent of more expensive candles. 

I have never had a problem with these candles and they come in smaller sizes which retail for £1 (in a glass jar) or tea lights with the same scent. 

This candle smells fresh and almost like a light men's aftershave. It fills the room quickly with a warm alluring scent. 

This candle smells fruity and earthy. It is really musky and fills the room quickly.

The Perfume Edit: Celebrity Fragrance

Celebrity perfume seems to be all the rage at the moment. With so many out there I thought I would cover 4 of my most cherished so far. Three of these are still readily available in the shops and one is still available online. 

Here are those 4 perfumes, in order left to right: Michael Kors, Katy Perry Royal Revolution, Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B L, Jimmy Choo.

Michael Kors is probably best known for his collection of accessories. But his perfume range has taken off in many shops. This bottle of the Michael Kors perfume for women retails at £39 for a 50ml bottle (shown in picture) or £79 for a 100ml bottle. The smell is strong but sweet, exotic, sexy and very sophisticated. The notes in this perfume are floral with rich musk and cashmere woods.

Katy Perry Royal Revolution  is a beautifully designed fragrance with one of the best bottle designs I have seen in a long time. This feel simply elegant  due to the shape and gradient on the bottle. In the image above is pictured my 30ml bottle which came as part of a gift set. This perfume retails for £39 for 100ml from Boots HERE. The fragrance has top notes of pink freesia and red pomegranate; heart notes of sandalwood, orange flower and jasmine petals; base notes of soft vanilla orchid and musk. 

This is a really lovely perfume and feels very glamours. I would recommend this to anyone it smells amazing! It isn't too sweet that it feels too much like teenage perfume, yet not too strong that it can be overpowering. 

Here is the Jimmy Choo perfume (bottle in image is 60ml part of gift set). This is the Eau de prfum and retails for £52 in Debenhams, the 40ml is cheaper at £41. You can get this on a better offer around Christmas when they have large gift-sets on offer. If you would like to buy this here is the LINK. This perfume has been a wardrobe staple for a year now and has been loved by everyone. This perfume is fruity with undertones of wood and musk.  This is a strong perfume and one which I prefer to wear in the evenings. This also came with a body cream which smells just as wonderful. 

Finally we have a golden oldie. This is the Gwen Stafani L (L.A.M.B) perfume. This is such an amazing perfume it is a shame that they discontinued it. I love a lot of Gwen's perfumes and had many of the doll perfumes (G was the best). This is so sultry and warm, sexy and floral with a hint of musk. Top notes are water hyacinth, pear, freesia and violet leaf; heart notes are jasmine, rose, sweet pea, orange blossom and lily of the valley; base notes are musk, frangipani, helitorpe and peach. This is no longer avaliable in the shops but you can find it on online outlets. 

This has a strong smell of orange blossom and the lily of the valley really comes through. I love this it feels light and fresh. 

I wanted to show how pretty the bottle is. It has an over-sized metal lid with a gradient sunset fade glass bottle.

New Affordable Spring/Summer Perfume

What springs to mind when we say affordable perfume? A rash? Smelling more like bathroom cleaner than perfume? Well this affordable perfume is a really amazing revolution in the way of affordable goodies. Everyone loves a new fragrance, but it can get costly with perfumes often more expensive than £30. 

This perfume is by NEXT (the clothing store), they do a wide variety of perfumes and sprays to suit all budgets and preference. This is the Paradise Island perfume 30ml which cost £8. This is a new launch for the brand and smells tropical, sweet and fruity. NEXT has launched several new perfumed aimed at spring and summer. 

The top notes in this perfume are mango and guava; heart notes are coconut water and pineapple and the base notes are sandalwood and musk. 

This smells really tropical and like a holiday by the beach. If you like the Escada Pacific Paradise (now discontinued), Escada Aqua Del Sol, Britney Spears Maui Fantasy or the mango perfume from the body shop you will love this little gem. 

Since wearing it I have had some really lovely compliments and no one guessed it was an affordable product. The smell even lasted on my clothes all day and beyond!

If £8 is still too much they do a smaller bottle, and if you fall in love then they do a larger bottle which retails at £12.

Gluten Free Shampoo- EO Essentials

Gluten free shampoo? 

Yes, I came across this item during a shopping trip. I didn't even know that this was a thing. So, I thought there was no harm in picking up  products from this brand which stock a whole range of fragrant products. I didn't realize that some bath and body products even contained gluten. However, doing a bit of research it suggests that as long as you don't ingest gluten as a celiac disease suffer then you should be fine. 

There were many ranges to choose from, the lavender and coconut took my fancy. It smells fresh, crisp and unique. Although I feel there are many shampoo and conditioner product on the market, often the delicious smell drifts away sometime between blow drying and styling. Therefore I was also after a product which packed a punch and remained in the hair after styling. I guess we all have our hair goals right?

I have been through so many brands of shampoo, I naturally have crazy, fluffy hair which is very curly and frizzy. Although my hair is in very good condition (according to several hair stylists) it can look a bit unloved sometimes. I take very good care of my hair by not dying it or using heat too often and using salon level products to help it out where I can. So it is always good to try products which promote healthy hair and nourishment. 

These are big bottles and contains 946ml/ 32 fl oz of product in each. they both come in large plastic containers with a pump dispenser. I paid £9.99 which is a high price for hair care products, but as it is not tested on animals and such large bottle I thought it was worth trying. I also believe that you wear you skin and hair every day so it is well worth the investment.                                                                                                                                                          EO is an american brand which started in 1995, you can buy this product online. All their products are gluten free, cruelty free and contain no synthetic fragrance. They are also paraben free, sodium laurel/laureth sulfate free and are made with organic essential oils. 

When you use this product it really does feel amazing. The senses go crazy over the intense bubbles and scent. It leaves the hair shiny and healthy feeling. I have fallen in love with yet another lavender product. These would be fantastic for large families who go through loads of products, or salons who want their customers to have a great experience. The products feel thick but not greasy, the conditioner goes a long way and the pumps are effective. 

I really love getting my hands on products which you can't just buy in your weekly shopping. You can buy these products direct from the EO website or from Amazon. You can sometimes pick this product up in shops in the UK so keep your eyes pealed. 






Finally did the fresh and herbal lavender smell remain in my hair? Yes, I kept getting a fresh smell whenever there was a breeze.

Deep Sleep Therapy- This Works

Who these days can genuinely say I got a fantastic nights sleep? Not me. Not many according to statistics. So what if there was something which was fantastic as a sleep aid, was good to the earth and didn't contain artificial chemicals? Interested? I was when I came across these two wonderful products from a brand called This Works. 

This Works is a British based company which is committed to producing fair products which use the best ingredients with nothing artificial, all their packaging is recyclable and nothing is tested on animals.  Furthermore, they work with British based farmers where possible and use organic ingredients. 

I am someone who wakes up because it's too cold, too warm or i'm in some uncomfortable position which needs correcting. For me this product sounded too good to be true. You'll find out later that it's not and I went back and brought more!!! 

So what are they you might be asking? They are the works deep sleep night oil and this works baby sleep pillow spray. The baby one is genuinely gentle enough to be used on babies and children, but it smells so delicious I sometimes spray my pajamas in this fragrance. They are both free from phthalates, sulphates, synthetic colors, synthetic fragrance, parabens GMOS, mineral oils, petrolatum and propylene glycol. 

What do they smell of? They both smell of lavender, with the pillow spray smelling of lavender and chamomile and the oil smells of smokey warm lavender. It is genuinely the most amazing combination ever. 

The pillow spray is very sensitive and evaporates quickly and leaves a soft but not overpowering spray. This has become one of my nightly rituals to spray all my pillows. In comparison the oil does absorb quickly but a little goes a long way. I love this to rub into tired feet. This also helps with any dry skin you have which is a amazing bonus.  Both products are in spray bottles with the oil having a large but controlled pump. 

I admit I love the pillow spray so much I have used it a few times as a fresh perfume for work. 

So, do I think this has made a difference to my sleeping pattern? I actually do and I'm such a skeptic when it comes to products which are designed to promote sleep. I love both of these products as does my partner who thinks they are amazing. I would recommend this to anyone and have used the oil to massage peoples feet, they all said how amazing and calming it was.
